Vientiane, Laos' national capital, mixes French-colonial architecture with Buddhist temples such as the golden, 16th-century Pha That Luang, which is a national symbol. Along broad boulevards and tree-lined streets are many notable shrines including Wat Si Saket, which features thousands of Buddha images, and Wat Si Muang, built atop a Hindu shrine.
08:00: A tour of Vientiane begins with a visit to Mat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane. This amazing structure has remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues. The next attraction is the old royal temple HAW PHA KAEW, which formerly housed the famous Emerald Buddha. We also visit the majestic Patouxi Monument also known as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane before continuing to the great sacred structure and symbol of Laos That Luang Stupa.
12:00: Lunch at local restaurant.
We headed out of town to see Buddha Park, a collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures scattered across the Mekong River grasslands, near the Friendship Bridge. There are about 200 religious images dating back more than 500 years, created by a mysterious monk spreading his philosophy on life and revealing his ideas about the universe. Watching the breathtaking Mekong River at sunset from one of the riverside bars is a perfect way to end the day.
17:00: Dropping you off at your hotel. Trip ends.
